About

VALERIE GIBSON is a well known and popular Canadian celebrity and was the award-winning sex and relationships columnist for the Toronto Sun newspaper, Toronto, Canada.

An author, radio and television personality and speaker across Canada and the U.S., Valerie is considered one of North America’s top experts on contemporary love, sex, relationships and dating and is frequently interviewed by international websites, newspapers and magazines.

For two years she was the host of her own live Canadian television show Dear Valerie on Rogers TV where she gave instant, honest answers to people's problems with life, love, marriage, friendship, sex and all types of relationships.

She’s also appeared as a guest on many top U.S. television shows and networks such as Dr. Phil, Prime Time Live, Montel Williams, Maury, Geraldo-at-Large, CNBC’s The Big Idea, Comcast and NBC's Today Show, as well as many Canadian shows on CBC, CTV, WTV, CITYTV, CHCH, Global and Rogers and in a number of documentaries.

Valerie specializes in the world of dating, relationships and aging issues, especially for those over 45, and her articles appear in many Canadian magazines and websites.

Her latest book - THE LATER DATER - A GUIDE FOR THE NEWLY SINGLE WOMAN OVER 50 is now available online. It's a helpful, honest and practical guide for women 50, 60 and over who are starting out again and want to know how to date and meet someone new in what can be a confusing, often complex, contemporary dating world.

Her last best-selling book Cougar: A Guide for Older women Dating Younger Men, launched the "Cougar" trend internationally in 2001.

She has been as a journalist in Europe and Canada for most of her adult life and while a columnist for the Toronto Sun, created the very first newspaper column written in Canada by a woman about sex and relationships. This was her very personal Intimacies column and the outspoken, honest, insightful commentary on modern sex and relationships made it one of the most popular reads in the paper and on the internet. She also co-wrote an equally popular column, S&M (Sex and Money) which was a unique combination of two hot subjects. Her advice column, Dear Val, gave readers experienced, realistic and honest answers to their love, sex and relationships problems.

Valerie lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and is on the Board of Directors for the Toronto Wildlife Centre and the Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra. She is currently single and enthusiastically exploring the joys (and many hazards!) of the contemporary dating world but, most of all, loves to help men and women meet and enjoy each other, no matter what their age.
